Our Mission
Team Up Philly empowers girls living in under-served neighborhoods in West Philadelphia to lead healthy, confident, and successful lives through sports and enrichment programs.
We focus on engaging girls in their critical adolescent and teen years with experiences that combine athletics, academics, and character development. Through teamwork, our girls learn tools to achieve their full potential and grow more confident in the power of their bodies and minds.

Our Approach
Athletics Access
Sports programs help girls reach their full potential. Research shows that girls who participate in sports have higher self-esteem, are more likely to graduate from college, and are less likely to suffer from abuse or negative body image.
Fitness & Nutrition
Taking care of your body isn't about fitting into a certain size - it's about feeling strong and healthy in your own skin. We help our girls learn about nourishing their body by giving it the food, movement, and love it deserves.
Character Development
In a world where success is too often defined by external achievements, character is undervalued. But sports nurtures the grit, cooperation, emotional awareness, and resilience needed for true success.
Leadership Training
We empower girls to find their voice and use it to not just play the game, but change the world. Our programs look closely at different communication and leadership styles to help girls develop skills that will last a lifetime.
Academic Support
Having positive role models leads to success. That’s why we dedicate two afternoons each week to tutoring. Volunteers from the community work one-on-one with girls to help them build strong academic skills and confidence.
Service
We all have something to give.
We strive to make a positive impact in our communities. From making blankets for children in shelters to putting together emergency kits, our girls are making a difference on and off the court.

Team Up Philly is committed to our girls for the long haul. Year-round programming that serves girls as they grow from elementary through high school helps us build the trusting positive relationships every child needs.
A legacy of care.
Team Up Philly, formerly Katie At The Bat, was founded in 2006 by Lisa S. Hoffstein. After years of working alongside families, we changed our name in 2015 to better reflect our closest-held value: teamwork. Since then, we’ve carried our mission forward and have served thousands of girls across Philadelphia.
