Thank You, Mentors!

Team Up Philly is fortunate to have coaches that inspire, motivate and positively impact the girls in our programs.

Coach Jae has worked for Team Up Philly for 10 years and is a firm believer in the adage, “If you can see it, you can be it.” She is thankful for the mentors in her own life and is driven to inspire success in the girls Team Up Philly serves. Coach Jae heads up the Leadership Club for girls in 9th-12th grades and in prior years was a coach in our Girls’ Club program. She is the Manager of Employment and Business Affairs for Philabundance Community Kitchen.

Coach Michaela began with Team Up Philly as a volunteer interested in sharing her love of sports. Shortly thereafter, she joined our coaching staff thinking the most enjoyable part of the job would be teaching basketball skills. A few months in, however, she found the Social-Emotional Learning exercises and activities to be the most interesting and valuable. Coach Michaela explains, ” These girls are strong, caring, smart, future leaders and I’ve found discussions with them to be so rewarding. This experience has taught me how important it is for girls to feel confident in themselves, connect with each other, and work to achieve their goals, at every age.” Coach Michaela is a head coach in the Girls’ Club and Sports for Juvenile Justice programs. She graduated from Drexel University this past December and currently works for Amtrak as a Business Improvement Analyst.

Coach Jae, Coach Michaela, Coach Alisha, and Coach Tatyana we are grateful for all you do!
